There’s nothing like the middle of winter to think about baseball.

That’s what will happen from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, when the Cincinnati Reds annual winter media caravan visits the Ashland, Ky., Town Center Mall.

Expected to visit the area are manager Jerry Narron, general manager Dan O’Brien, Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman and radio partner Steve Stewart, senior special assistant Gene Bennett, pitcher Todd Coffey and former Reds pitcher Tom Browning who was recently elected to the Reds Hall of Fame.

Additional players are expected to be added next week.

The group will field questions from the fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs.

Sales representatives will be on hand to discuss season tickets and group sales.

The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum will have a traveling exhibit.

Other stops on the caravan include Indianapolis on Jan. 26,

On Jan. 27, the first stop will be in Lima and from 5-7 p.m. in Dublin at Flannagan’s.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, the caravan will stop from noon to 2 p.m. at Fricker’s in West Carrollton (Dayton) and then from 5-7 p.m. at the Louisville Slugger Museum.

After Sunday’s stop in Ashland, the caravan will be held from 5- p.m. in Nicholasville, Ky., a Champion Sports (Lexington).

Also, the Reds are scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, May 15, in the Hall of Fame Game in Cooperstown. Tickets for the game will go on sale Feb. 18.

This will be the seventh time the Reds have been selected to play in the Hall of Fame Game. Traditionally the game matches teams from both leagues. This will mark the first meeting between two league teams since 2001.

The Reds did not play in the game in their last two selections due to mechanical plane troubles in 1989 and a players’ strike in 1981.

The Reds open their regular season against the Chicago Cubs on Monday, April 3.
