Defense key for RH girls

LLOYD, Ky. — The Rock Hill Redwomen know what’s important in life: God, family, health and a good defense.

The Redwomen played another solid defensive game as they beat the Greenup County Lady Musketeers 6-1 Tuesday.

“The defense is what’s important. We’re playing good defense,” Rock Hill coach Mary Harper said. “The girls are playing well. I’m proud of the whole team.”

Bobbi Harper got the win with a four-hitter. She struck out six and walked two.

Rock Hill got single runs in each of the first two innings.

In the first, Shelli Harper singled, stole second and came around to score on two errors.

The Redwomen got another run in the second inning when Brooke Long singled, moved up on two ground outs and scored on an error.

Rock Hill tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning to go up 6-0.

Long singled, move to second base on an error, moved up on a sacrifice and came home when Bobbi Harper singled.

Katrina Settle singled, Shelli Harper was safe on a fielder’s choice and Bobbi Harper came home on a passed ball.

Jazel DeAutremont then reached on an error as two runs scored.

Rock Hill, 9-4, hosts Fairland Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
