ASHLAND, Ky. — Jazz Alley returns by popular demand to the Paramount Arts Center this summer with four great performances showcased in an intimate cabaret on the theater stage!
Jeff Flanagan and Friends is our first show on Friday, June 11 at 8. If you love New Orleans style jazz, Dixieland and hot jazz, you won’t want to miss this first show. Jeff Flanagan will unite 7 musicians from 4 states on stage to showcase the traditional music that was the birth of jazz at the turn of the century.
This group of musicians, often united as River Cities Jazz, has performed with jazz greats across the country including Bob Thompson and Greg Abate.
A Swingin’ Affair will be on our stage on Friday, July 9 at 8. This concert features Steve Snyder & Sean Parsons. Funky jazz, soul jazz or jazz-fusion are just a few of the terms to describe this Swingin’ Affair event. Steve Snyder brings his Hammond B3 organ to the stage and is joined by Sean Parsons on piano and Ken Tackett on drums. This group will deliver sounds of funk, soul and R&B with songs from the Great American Songbook.
The Bob Thompson Quartet will be here on Friday, Aug. 13 at 8. You will not want to miss legendary pianist Bob Thompson with what he calls junk — his own style of jazz and funk.
Thompson has been performing on stages throughout the world for the past 30 years and is heard regularly on Public Radio International and is a regular on Mountain Stage Radio Show.
Tickets to the shows are $20 for adults, $10 for kids, $60 for a seat at all 4 shows, $500 for a table at all four shows. This event is sponsored by Community Trust Bank. For tickets call the box office at 606.324.3175 ext. 2 or go to www.paramountartscenter.com.
