SOUTH POINT — On Dec. 20, Lawrence County Law Enforcement participated in the annual Shop with a Cop program at the South Point Walmart. As part of the program, officers from local law enforcement agencies raised money to help less fortunate children from around Lawrence County.

This year the program involved officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, South Point Police Department and the Chesapeake Police Department. During the program, officers were paired up with the children chosen for the program and they shopped for clothing, toys and any other items the children wished to purchase.

Through fund raising and donations from the public and officers involved, the program raised approximately $2,500 and allowed for the departments to assist 18 children ranging from age 3 to 18.
