COAL GROVE — This one was over almost before it started.

Using their running game, the Coal Grove Lady Hornets easily beat the Rose Hill Christian Lady Royals 69-24 on Monday.

Ashley Adkins and Jacy Jones had 13 points each as 12 different Lady Hornets scored. Coal Grove’s running game produced 18 assists.

“We got out early running and it was to our advantage,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Rick Roach. “My kids were able to execute their offense smoothly tonight. We were able to move the ball well and get it to the open person.”

Coal Grove (6-1) led 19-3 at the end of the first quarter and the lead ballooned to an insurmountable 39-7 at the half.

The Lady Hornets led 53-16 after three quarters.

“It was a good game to allow all my kids the opportunity to get in and play a little at the varsity level,” said Roach. “Rose Hill has a very young team but they work really hard. Their kids go for all loose balls and get on the floor.”

Alana Martin and Myriah Porter had 11 points each for Rose Hill (0-9).

Coal Grove won the jayvee game 40-18 as the Lady Hornets hit 16of 22 at the line.

The Female Flyers stayed close early but the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans pulled away in the second half and posted a 55-21 win on Monday.

Notre Dame led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and 21-12 at the half. The Lady Titans then outscored the Female Flyers 15-4 in the third quarter and 34-9 in the second half to win going away.
