Ironton basketball game at OUC

The Ironton Fighting Tigers boys basketball game today against Chillicothe will be held at the Ohio Univesity Chillicothe Shoemaker Center.

Fans may take U.S. 23 north to Chillicothe adn get off the Main Street (50 west) exit.

Turn left off the exit onto Main Street and follow the green signs to the university.

Fans will go through a series of traffic lights, cross Paint Street and Walnut Street and go approximately six miles to Western Avenue (Route 50 West). Get into the left lane, go to a light and turn left onto a four-lane road (University Hill) and pass the Shoemaker Center and turn left into the parking lot.

Junior Lady Dragons sweep Portsmouth

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Junior Dragons swept a pair of basketball games from the Portsmouth Lady Trojans Monday.

The 8th grade ran its record to 8-1 with a 51-27 rout. Emily McMaster scored 14 points while Megan Brooks and Jordan Fulks had 10 each.

Jenna Walters and Breanna Arthur had eight points each in the 7th grade 31-29 win over the Trojans.

Fairland plays at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Coal Grove in an Ohio Conference game.

Junior Pointers post wins over Hornets

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Junior Pointers 7th and 8th grade teams picked up Ohio Valley Conference wins Monday.

The 7th grade held on for a 32-28 win over Coal Grove as Kyle Dickess scored 15 points and Michael Leighty added seven.

In the 8th grade game, Todd Mayo had 16 points and Cody Taylor 10 as the Pointers won 41-28. Frank Delawder scored 15 for the Hornets.

South Point hosts Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
