Sewer work continues in Ironton
IRONTON — After taking a day off to celebrate Memorial Day Monday, the Ironton sewer rehabilitation project is back in full swing.
Workers will be relining the sewer on Kemp Lane and Liberty Avenue, as well as several other locations in the city.
They will also be cleaning the sewer in two locations.
This week’s schedule for the project is as follows:

North Ironton between Ellison Street and Center Street.
Manhole Rehabilitation
Third Street alley between Jefferson Street and Madison Street
Sewer Cleaning
Railroad Street between Second Street and Fifth Street
Third Street alley between Vernon Street and Jefferson Street

Liberty Avenue
Chestnut Street between Seventh Street and Eighth Street
Jefferson Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street
Lawrence Street between Fourth Street and Sixth Street
Pine Street between Ninth Street and 11th Street

‘Weed Warriors’ workshop set for Saturday
IRONTON — Ohio University Southern and the Iron Furnace Cooperative Weed Management Area are hosting the Weed Warriors Workshop Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The workshop will be held at the Ohio University Southern Nature Center at Lake Vesuvius.
Participants will have hands-on experience with, and learn about:
Invasive species identification
Control techniques
GPS reading
Topographic map reading
Habitat restoration.
The event is free and open to the public. Activities for children will be provided.
