ROSE HILL, Ky. — The one-two scoring punch was throwing quite a few blows.

Brandon Barnes had 23 points and Austin Jeffreys scored 20 to lead the South Point Pointers to a 73-43 rout of the Rose Hill Royals on Tuesday.

“Brandon and Austin are going to score. They both shot the ball really well. Jeffreys didn’t miss hardly any shots,” said Pointers’ coach Chris Barnes.

Brandon Barnes and Jeffreys also had four assists while Josh Payne grabbed four rebounds.

Andrwe Wilhoit had a game-high 25 for the Royals.

Barnes scored 10 straight points to start the game and the Pointers took a 28-12 lead.

Jeffreys came back with 9 points in the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 43-20 at the half.

Brandon Barnes got 12 points in the third quarter to open up a 56-25 cushion and the reserves took over in the fourth quarter.

The Pointers play at Boyd County on Thursday and hosts Portsmouth on Friday.
