FRANKLIN FURNACE — Symmes Valley coach Brandon Walker has been waiting for a breakout game by Megan Johnson.

He doesn’t have to wait anymore.

Johnson scored 14 points as the Lady Vikings beat the Green Lady Bobcats 40-22 on Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“”Johnson has the potential. Tonight she looked to shoot and you can see the results,” said Walker. “But it was a good team effort. We got some players in foul trouble and we had some girls come off the bench who helped us.”

Hannah Maynard scored all 4 of her points in the first quarter as the Vikings took a 7-3 lead.

Elly Fulks — taking over at point guard — scored all 7 of her points in the second quarter as Symmes Valley maintained its lead at 18-14.

The Lady Vikings held Green to only one point in the third quarter and the lead went to 25-15.

Johnson then scored 9 points in the fourth quarter as Symmes Valley pulled away.

Hannah Collett had 6 points to lead Green (0-4, 0-3).
