ASHLAND, Ky. —The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, 1620 Winchester Ave., will unveil its first premier tennis exhibit from 5-8 pm. Aug. 4.

“The History and Players of the Game Ashland” opens with a public reception during downtown Ashland’s First Friday Art.

The memorabilia in the exhibit is taken from the extensive collection of Michael Eden of Lexington, Ky., founder and past president of Tennis Collectors of America.

Equipment of the game, posters, cards, rackets and balls reflect the changes and emphasize the traditions that have developed throughout the years. Sports endorsements of an earlier era are reflected in the

many items that carry the names and faces of the best and most marketable players.

The exhibit also

displays professional, collegiate and high school tennis players and memorabilia both locally and nationally.

This exhibit will be featured during the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic and will provide tennis fans an overview of the ever-popular game.

It will be on display through October 20.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and Mondays by appointment. Admission is $5 for adults, and $4 for seniors, students and children. Members and children under 2 are free.
