CHESAPEAKE — Three people now faces charges in connection with the Aug. 7 hold up of the Rich Oil station on Third Avenue in Chesapeake.
One of them is the store clerk who was at the store at the time of the robbery.
Matthew Napier, 27, of Prichard, W.Va., Raymond Meredith, 33, of 102 Township Road 1336, South Point and Mary Overby, 33, of 1267 Township Road 258 N, Chesapeake, all now face charges of theft, breaking and entering and tampering with evidence.
Napier and Meredith were taken to the Lawrence County Jail. Overby, a Rich Oil employee, was issued a summons to appear in Lawrence County Municipal Court to answer the charges against her.
“Detective Aaron Bollinger did a tremendous job on this,” Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton said. “He followed up on leads, and we were able to make the arrests and to recover some articles of clothing that were used in the robbery and some of the money.”
Late on the night of Sunday, Aug. 6, a man walked into the Chesapeake gas station and demanded money. He left on foot with around $2,600.
Sexton did not say which of the two men was the actual robber.
