FRANKLIN FURNACE – This one was about us.

That was the feeling of Green Bobcats head coach Kevin Sheridan who took a more selfish preparation approach last week.

Focusing on their own play worked as the Bobcats routed the Burch Bulldogs 52-12 Friday.

“What we tried to do was concentrate on ourselves. We had to work out our own kinks,” Sheridan said.

One of the things the Bobcats coach worked on was the play of his interior offensive line, mainly at the guard position where Sheridan switch Ian Kelley from tight end to guard.

“Ian Kelley made a big difference in our running game. We’ve used four different guys at guard. He gives us some stability and he’s one of our more physical guys,” Sheridan said.

The Green running game racked up 338 yards on 49 attempts led by James McGuire with 18 carries for 143 yards and three touchdowns and Jon Butler with 16 attempts for 130 yards and three TDs.

Butler had touchdown runs of 5 and 3 yards in the first quarter as Green took a 14-0 lead.

Butler broke loose on a 51-yard run for a touchdown early in the second quarter and it was 22-0.

McGuire scooted 25 yards for a touchdown with 4:11 left in the half and the Bobcats had a 28-0 lead.

McGuire ran 31 and 8 yards for touchdowns in the third quarter as Green blew the game open at 40-0.

The final two Green touchdowns came on a 23-yard scamper by Josh Rhea and a 1-yard plunge by Billy Moore.

The Bobcats defense held Burch to just 131 total yards including 7 passing.
