Pleas offered, trial dates set in common pleas court

Drugs, trial dates and misuse of a credit card were among the issues bringing people to Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.
Melanie Pankey, 33, of 1118 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs.
Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced her to a total of three years in prison, fined her $10,000 and suspended her driver’s license six months. Pankey was accused of trying to sell oxycodone within the vicinity of a school in August.
Jason Adkins, 29, was arraigned on one count of misuse of a credit card. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney Mark McCown, Bowling set bond a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond and ordered Adkins to return to court Dec. 14 for a pretrial conference.
Trial dates were set for two other people. Terry Gibson, 21, of Flatwoods, Ky., will stand trial Dec. 5 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Billy R. Monroe, 48, of 1406 S. Ninth St., Ironton, will stand trial Dec. 12 on one count of breaking and entering. Both Gibson and Monroe will stand trial before Bowling.
