CHESAPEAKE — A little oil, please.

With the offenses struggling, the South Point Pointers managed to edge the Chesapeake Panthers 41-35 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“It was one of those grind out wins,” Pointers coach Gary Norris said. “Neither team could get much going offensively. Neither team shot the ball well.”

Chris Brown had 14 points and Chase McWhorter 13 as South Point finished the regular season 13-6 and tied for second in the OVC at 7-3.

Kyle Rase led the Panthers (6-14, 2-8) with 15 points including four 3-pointers.

Chesapeake led 8-6 after a slow first quarter, but Brown scored 9 points in the second quarter and the defense held the Panthers to 3 points as South Point took a 22-11 halftime lead.

But Rase got 8 points in the third quarter as Chesapeake rallied to within 36-28.

The offenses struggled again in the fourth quarter as Chesapeake outscored South Point 7-5.

Last Saturday, the Pointers fell to West Union 61-57. McWhorter scored 28 points and Beau Weed 18 to pace the Pointers.
