LLOYD, Ky. — The South Point Lady Pointers needed an answer for Greenup County. They decided on defense.

Trailing by 5 points after three quarters, South Point held the Lady Musketeers to 4 points in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 50-47 win Friday night.

Sarah Lee scored 17 points and Missy Wheeler had 12 to lead the Lady Pointers to their 11th win in 17 outings.

Sara Sexton and Bridget Gibson scored 10 each for Greenup County (8-7).

Wheeler and Lee scored 5 points each in the first quarter as South Point took a 12-10 lead.

Greenup’s Megan Issac had 5 points in the second quarter as Greenup County came back to take a 29-23 lead at the half. Raven Blake and T’Ann Mayo scored 4 points each to keep the Lady Pointers close.

Lee got 6 more points in the third quarter to offset 8 by Gibson as South Point closed the gap to 43-38.

In the fourth quarter, Wheeler scored 5 including 2 of 2 from the line. South Point converted 5 of 8 at the foul line down the stretch.
