Zura Brammer Lacy
COAL GROVE — Zura Brammer Lacy, 90, of Coal Grove, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Sunset Nursing Center in Coal Grove. She was born July 4, 1921 a daughter to the late Shelby and Thelma (Flowers) Chinn. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jess Brammer and Clarence Lacy; a infant son, Thomas Brammer; two brothers, Shelby Jr. Chinn and Dwight Chinn; two sisters, Ethel Lois Willets and Hattie Niekirk; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Adkins Brammer.
Zura was a graduate of Decatur Washington High School. She went on to work as a hand decorator at Rainbow Art Glass. Over the years, Zura and her husband Jess worked together operating several local businesses. She was also the director of Lawrence County Multipurpose Center for aging. She remained active in other organizations such as the Women’s Republic Club, the Garden Club and was a 4-H Youth Leader. Zura was a member of Sheridan Missionary Baptist Church. In her later years, Zura enjoyed quilting and crafting.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Brammer of Coal Grove; one daughter, Diana (Craig) Gillette of Catlettsburg, Ky.; three granddaughters, Nikki (Ryan) Bentley of Coal Grove, Barbara (Steve and Grace) Smith of Bandera, Texas and Vickie (Brad) Hart of Canton; one great-granddaughter, Lexi Bentley of Coal Grove; one sister, Arlene Ellison of Ashland, Ky.; a honorary grandson, Jonathan Gannon of Coal Grove and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Willis and Pastor Todd Warner officiating. Interment will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. VERNER, W.Va. — Richard Dean Hendricks, 56, of Verner, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at the Logan Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
