FLATWOODS, Ky. — Give us just a little more time.
With a lineup dominated by freshmen, the Fairland Lady Dragons were unable to overcome the Russell Lady Red Devils Monday in the season opener, 3-0.
“We’re really young and we need to learn to play together. Until then we’re gong to take some lumps. Hopefully, we’ll get there,” said Fairland coach Leroy Baise.
“But Russell has a real good pitcher and we only struck out four time.”
Megan Auxier pitched well in defeat. She struck out seven, walked one and gave up just six hits.
Megan Brooks, Mackenzie Rucker and Kirsten Midkiff had Fairland’s hits.
