Female Flyers notch first win

ASHTON, W.Va. — First they tried to give it away, then they just took it away.
After blowing a 12-point lead at one time, the St. Joseph Female Flyers rallied from one point down in the final minute to beat the Hannan Lady Wildcats 35-34 Wednesday for their first win of the season.
Hannan took a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Charleigh Haas then scored 7 points in the second quarter as St. Joseph built as much as a 12-point lead and it was 21-14 at the half.
The Wildcats came back in the third quarter to get within 29-28. Lindsay Dressel had 4 of the Flyers 8 points in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Hannan took a 34-33 lead with less than a minute to play. But Haas scored to put the Flyers ahead with 22 seconds left and Hannan failed to score on its possession.
St. Joseph (1-3) was led by Haas with 13 points. Dressel scored 7 points, Katie Schwab 6, Danielle Blair 5 and Michelle Staton 4.
St. Joseph plays at Harvest Christian next Thursday.
