SOUTH POINT – The pain was more like a small cut than a deep abrasion.

After losing the suspended game on a home run, the South Point Lady Pointers came back in the regularly scheduled game to roll past the Fairland Lady Dragons 14-4 Monday in Ohio Valley Conference play.

“It was just our night. It took the sting out of the first game real quick,” said Lady Pointers coach Steve Baise.

A game on April 6 was suspended with the scored tied 2-2.

South Point threatened in the top of the seventh.

Chelsea Seagraves walked when the game was suspended. As play resumed, Ericka Leighty put down a sacrifice bunt and Courtney Koukos was hit by a pitch. But Megan Auxier struck out the next batter to end the threat.

In the bottom of the inning, Megan Brooks beat out a bunt single and Auxier

drilled an 0-1 pitch over the fence in centerfield.

The second game took a different route.

South Point went up 3-0 in the second inning before Fairland got a run back in the third.

But South Point put together a five-run rally in the bottom of the ining.

Leighty had a two-run double and Hannah Huron got an RBI triple as the lead went to 8-1.

South Point banged out 16 hits. Ashley Kleinman was 3-3 with three runs batted in and Chelsi Planters was 3-4 with three RBIs.

Huron got the win as she struck out four and did not walk a batter.

South Point (7-9, 4-3) plays at Chesapeake Wednesday. Fairland (10-7, 4-3) visits Lucasville Tuesday and River Valley on Wednesday.
