MANCHESTER — The hit parade is still marching.
The St. Joseph Flyers continued their hot-hitting as they outscored the Manchester Greyhounds 15-5 Wednesday.
“We hit the ball well again. You know at some point it will slow down, but I hope we can keep it up,” said Flyers coach Greg Bryant.
St. Joseph had 12 hits with Ryan Waginger, Michael Basedow, Cory Lewis and Jerrod Laber getting two hits each.
The Flyers got a run in the first inning on a two-out double by Laber who stole third and came home on a throwing error.
St. Joseph pushed across five runs in the second inning to lead 6-0.
Lewis singled, Waginger doubled, and then Chad Harvey, Basedow, and Joe Unger all singled. Pat Gagai tripled with two outs to drive in a run and an error scored the final run.
Manchester used five walks, a hit batsman and a passed ball third strike to score four runs in the bottom of the second and it was 6-4.
But the Flyers came right back with two runs in the third inning.
Waginger singled and scored when Harvey reached on an error. Harvey went to second on the play and scored when he was running on Basedow’s sacrifice bunt.
The Greyhounds got a run in the fifth to make it 8-5, but St. Joseph scored two in the sixth.
Gagai walked and Laber singled with each moving up on a stolen base. Caleb Blackburn singled in a run and Lewis doubled home the second run.
The Flyers put the game away with five runs in the seventh inning highlighted by Blackburn’s three-run double.
St. Joseph (16-2) hosts Chesapeake Thursday and visits South Point on Monday.
