SOUTH POINT — Moore was less.
Trenton Moore went seven innings but gave up only one hit as the South Point Pointers blanked the Chesapeake Panthers 6-0 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“Trenton pitched a nice game. He was in control the whole game,” said Pointers coach Marty Patrick.
The win keeps South Point atop the OVC at 4-0 and 6-0 overall.
The Pointers wasted little time by scoring a run in the first inning.
Chase McWhorter singled and scored when Jacob Seagraves and Tyler Smith reached on errors.
The lead went to 3-0 in the third inning.
Anthony Ross and Moore smacked back-to-back doubles for the first run. After Seagraves walked, Smith delivered a run-scoring single.
A run scored in the fifth inning when Moore was hit by a pitch, McWhorter walked, both moved up on a ground out and Smith had a two-run single.
The final run scored in the sixth when Chris Brown singled, stole second and third, and came home on a sacrifice fly.
Clinton Baise had the only hit for Chesapeake (1-4, 1-2).
The Pointers host East Carter, Ky., Tuesday.
