Help wanted: apply at the Lawrence County Commissioner’s Office. Must be skilled at makin’ bacon and scrambling eggs.
The Lawrence County Commission is advertising for a person to operate the courthouse snack bar that is in one corner of the second floor. Kathleen Pemberton, who has operated the snack bar for the last six years, has filled a vacancy the Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office, commissioners said Thursday.
“We want to see if anyone is interested in it,” Lawrence County Commission President Doug Malone said.
Typical snack bar hours are 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday -Friday. The smell of bacon and sausage was a familiar aroma that greeted courthouse patrons in the morning during Pemberton’s tenure. The snack bar, which is also open to the public, was sometimes used to supply lunches to juries selected to hear trials in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Pemberton will replace Jeff Clark, who left the treasurer’s office to take a job at a local bank.
Those interested may contact Lawrence County Courthouse Administrator Tami Meade at 533-4300.
Lawrence County is one of the few courthouse to have a snack bar with more than just gum or candy bars. It also serves a variety of sandwiches and breakfast foods.
