The early returns are in and, just like an election, the results are inconclusive.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced its first week of the computer football ratings Wednesday after four weeks.

The OHSAA releases ratings each week through the end of the season. The top eight teams in each region of the six divisions qualify for the postseason playoffs.

In Region 15 of Division IV, the Rock Hill Redmen (3-1) opened in seventh place with a 5.7250 average.

Also listed in the top 10 was Waverly in a tie for fifth place with New Lexington and Portsmouth at No. 9 with a 5.5500 average.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers (2-2) are 12th with a 3.5750 average. The South Point Pointers (1-3) are 20th, and the Fairland Dragons (1-3) 23rd.

In Division V, Wheelersburg (2-2) comes in at No. 12 with a 3.8660 average followed by Portsmouth West (2-2) at No. 13 (3.8500) and the Coal Grove Hornets (3-1) in 14th place with a 3.7790 average.

The Chesapeake Panthers (2-2) are 21st with a 2.6320 average.

In Division VI, the highest-ranking local team is Symmes Valley (1-3) at No. 20 with a 1.2280 average.

Green (0-4) is in Region 24 this year along with Portsmouth Notre Dame and Sciotoville East (4-0) which is ranked at No. 3.
