Clifford Roberts arrested after allowing 13-year-old son to drive him home from bar
CHESAPEAKE — A South Point man who allowed his 13-year-old son to drive him home from a bar will stand trial Nov. 21.
Clifford Roberts, 37, who lists an address of 422 Solida Road, appeared Monday for a preliminary hearing in Lawrence County Municipal Court before Judge Donald Capper. The trial date was set at that time.
Roberts was arrested Oct. 17. Authorities allege Roberts went to the Whiskey River Saloon at the Grandview Inn and became intoxicated while his underage son sat in a vehicle in the motel parking lot. When he departed the saloon, his son was allowed to drive him home. Roberts was arrested after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the Lawrence Village Apartments in South Point in response to a complaint of a man making noise in the parking lot. It was then that a witness told the deputy what had allegedly happened.
Roberts is charged with child endangerment and possession of drugs.
