If you are a candidate running for political office this November, it is not too late to reach more than 10,000 potential voters.

The Tribune is preparing to publish its annual voters guide that allows those seeking elected office to get their message out, in their own words, to thousands of citizens.

The Tribune mailed a questionnaire to every candidate who will be on the ballot. Some have returned them and others have not.

The deadline to turn them in is the end of the day today. But there is still time.

Any candidate who did not receive a questionnaire can go to http://tiny.cc/mhsdm to download a copy. They can then simply type the answers into an e-mail or fax it.

There is no reason every candidate shouldn’t be in this publication. It is free and done as a service to the community, although there are advertising opportunities that are handled separately.

Even those running in uncontested races should take advantage of this opportunity to explain to voters and taxpayers exactly who will be representing them and what the candidate is all about.

This biographical information will be compiled into the voters guide that will be published at the end of the month.

Although the 2011 general election isn’t getting near the attention that next year’s presidential race is, this year is still very important for our local communities because the election includes mayoral candidates, city councils, school boards and township officials. These are people who can have a direct impact on our lives.

So, if you want voter support, take the time to fill out the questionnaire and tell everyone how you will help lead Lawrence County to a positive future.
