WESTWOOD, Ky. — The South Point Pointers are loaded. OK, so the bases are loaded with Pointers.
South Point loaded the bases three different times and each time they capitalized as they rallied to beat the Fairview Eagles 8-5 Wednesday.
South Point jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Kyle Hughes walked, Beau Weed doubled and Jacob Seagraves walked to load the bases. Josh Esque followed with a single to empty the bases.
Fairview got a run in the bottom of the first inning and scored three more in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead.
The Pointers scored twice in the sixth inning to regain the lead at 5-4.
Jake Adkins walked, Stephen McClure was safe on an error and Kyle Dickess walked to load the bases. Jordan Fletcher then cranked a two-run double.
The Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
South Point rallied for the win with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Weed was hit by a pitch, stole second and third bases, and scored on a hit by Tyler Smith. Three walks not only loaded the bases but forced in a run. Dickess delivered a run-scoring single.
Seagraves, the third South Point pitcher, got the win.
