PROCTORVILLE — Imagine how coach Roger Snyder would have felt if the Fairland Dragons would have lost?
Snyder was thankful for an 8-6 Ohio Valley Conference win Monday over the Chesapeake Panthers, but he wasn’t real happy.
“It was one of those games you’re glad you won but it was frustrating,” said Snyder.
“We made so many mistakes. We made some key errors in the field. We missed some signals. We were happy to get the win, but it was frustrating. We can play so much better,”
Chesapeake went up 3-0 in the first inning.
Clinton Baise got a bloop single and Bryon Huff was hit by a pitch. Kyle Rase doubled in a run, Travis Zimmerman hit a sacrifice fly, and Phillip Mandt had a base hit.
Fairland got within 3-2 in the second inning.
Tyler Thackston reached on an error. Tyler Godby walked and Garrett Boster had a two-run double.
The Panthers came back with two runs in the third.
Huff singled, Rase reached on an error, Zimmerman had an RBI single, and Mandt hit a sacrifice fly.
But Fairland got two of its own in the bottom of the inning when Zach Matsich singled and Robbie Easterling hit a home run to center field.
Chesapeake got a run in the top of the fifth on a hit by Rase and two throwing errors.
The Dragons scored twice in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
Chad Fisher singled and Zac Jordan had an RBI double. Matasich singled in the second run.
Fairland pushed across the winning runs in the sixth.
Boster singled and Mitch Love hit into a fielder’s choice. Love took third on Fisher’s double and Matasich delivered a two-run single.
On Tuesday, Fairland (2-0, 1-0) hosts Symmes Valley and Chesapeake (1-2, 0-1) entertains Oak Hill.
