BURLINGTON — There were some new faces at this year’s fund-raising rummage sale in Burlington. And the organizers from the Concerned Citizens of Burlington were certainly glad to see them.

“We had people who had never worked before with our rummage sale, which was just wonderful,” Harriette Ramsey of the Concerned Citizens, said. “This is strictly a volunteer commitment. If not for the volunteers, this could not happen. I don’t know what I would have done if they hadn’t shown up.”

The Friday and Saturday rummage sale, which brought in $600, was held in conjunction with the annual clean up. The money raised will go to keep up the Commons Park and other community projects.

About a dozen county court workers helped out with the clean up that ended up with six dumpsters of trash being brought to the Fayette Township Fire Department.

All the Fayette township trustees and Mike Jones who works for the trustees joined in the effort.

“The Fayette trustees, we couldn’t do it without them,” Ramsey said.

The county engineer’s office paid for the dumping of one truck, a contribution it makes annually, and the Solid Waste Management provided gloves and bags as well as making a donation.

“It was a definite success,” Ramsey said.
