Lady Dragons ease past Redwomen

PEDRO — The Fairland Lady Dragons took it to the limit.
The Lady Dragons battled back from a 2-1 deficit t win in five sets as they edged the Rock Hill Redwomen in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match Tuesday.
Fairland won the first set 25-16, but Rock Hill came back to win the next two games 25-17 and 28-26. The Lady Dragons then rallied to tie the match with a 25-13 win and won the tiebreaker 15-8.
Lauren Poe scored 14 points and Kennon Clarkson had 12 points to lead Fairland. Samantha Lamb had eight kills and Sasha Burcham added six kills.
Fairland won both sets in the reserve match.
The Lady Dragons (2-2, 1-1 OVC) host Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a league match.
River Valley vs. Chesapeake
CHESAPEAKE — The River Valley Lady Raiders took a straight sets volleyball match from the Chesapeake Lady Panthers Tuesday.
River Valley won the Ohio Valley Conference match 25-18, 25-14, 25-8.
“River Valley has a really nice team. Ashley Randolph and Tracy Roberts really hurt us,” said Chesapeake coach Dana Edwards.
Randolph had six ace serves and 13 points in the third game. Amanda Ruffner led the Lady Panthers with nine kills.
River Valley won the reserve match in three sets, 25-8, 22-25, and 25-14.
Chesapeake travels to Fairland for a 5:30 league match Thursday.
