PT. PLEASANT, W.Va. — That’s why they play two halves.

After trailing by 12 points at halftime, the Rock Hill Redwomen rallied in the second half and edged the Pt. Pleasant Lady Big Blacks 51-48 on Monday.

“They were on fire in the first half. They were hitting all kinds of 3-pointers,” said Redwomen coach Eric Bailey.

“We made some adjustments at halftime and took that away. Samantha Bamer did a great job defensively, we moved Haylee Dancy to point guard and that helped our offense, and Abigail Payne did a great job scoring for us.”

Rock Hill (8-13) had three players in double figures led by J’lynn Risner with 19 points. Myles Bailey scored 17 and Payne had 11.

Mackenzie Weikle scored 12 points and Kyla Queen 11 for Pt. Pleasant (4-18).

Pt. Pleasant took an 11-6 first quarter lead and then outscored the Redwomen 31-13 in the second quarter to lead 32-19.

The Lady Big Blacks hit six 3-pointers in the quarter with Weikle scoring 6 points including a trey and Bella Tolliver knocking down two 3-pointers.

Bailey kept Rock Hill close as she scored 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers of her own while Risner added 4 points.

Payne score 7 points in the third quarter and the defense held the Lady Big Blacks to just 6 points to cut the deficit to 38-32.

In the fourth quarter, Risner dominated with 10 points while Payne had 4 more points, Dancy got a basket and Bailey converted 3 of 6 free throws.

Queen hit a 3-pointer and scored 8 of Pt. Pleasant’s 10 points.
