Gene Molter

Gene Merrill Molter, 89 of Ironton, passed peacefully on Jan. 9, 2025, surrounded by his family, who loved and adored him, at Ashland Community Hospice Care.

Gene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Dixon Molter, of Ironton; son, Steve and Patti Molter, of North Carolina; daughter, Beth and Mark Snyder, of Florida; one grandson, Cameron Molter, of Virginia and great grandchildren, Madison and Mason; three granddaughters Chelsea and Shaylee Snyder, of Florida, Lindsay (Matt) Moriarty; and expected in July 2025, a great-grandson of Texas.

Gene was the middle son of the late Clarence and Ethel Molter, of Ironton; with brothers, Glen and his late wife, Dorothy of Oklahoma, the late Dale (Annetta) Molter, of Ohio, in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved.

Gene was a graduate from Ironton High School with the class of 1953 as well as a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

He retired after dedicating 35 years to the Ashland Oil Refinery in Catlettsburg, Kentucky.

Services conducted by Pastor Eric Barnes honoring Gene’s life will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Church 304 South 5th Street Ironton, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. with burial following at Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider a donation to his favorite following charities, First Baptist Church Shoe Box Ministries, Samaritans Purse or Ashland Hospice.
Gene will be forever dearly missed by many.
