Verna McCarty

Verna Candace McCarty, 91, of Kitts Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, 16688 County Rd. 2 Scottown, with Larry Casteel and Kelly Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Old Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church noon–1 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, C/O Debra Short 68 Private Drive 42 Kitts Hill, 45645.
