Glenna Juanita Murnahan, 85 of Lady Lake, Florida passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26. 2024, at the UF Spanish Plaines Hospital, The Villages, Florida.
She was known as “Ninny” to many family members, also, known and loved by friends and family for her “big” personality, sense of humor and loyalty in friendship.
She was of the Christian faith and longtime member of Bald Knob UB Church, Kitts Hill. She was a devoted wife, mother and Mammaw.
She was born in Lawrence County on March 4, 1939, to the late Cecil Reed and the late Bertha Kingrey Reed.
She was a 1957 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and she was employed by the Dawson Bryant School District as a bus driver.
After relocating to Florida in 1983, she worked in the auto parts sales industry with NAPA, Ocala Florida, later employed in medical records and as a telephone operator at the UF Student Health Care Center, Gainesville, Florida, where she retired in 2001.
In addition, to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, infant brother, Frederick Reed, Leslie Reed and Berkley Reed; one sister, Marie Reed Drummond; two surviving sisters, Verna Reed Harper and Ruth Reed Murnahan. In addition to her sisters, those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Walter “Puck” Murnahan; three children, Bryan (Alice) Murnahan, of Alachua Florida, Gary (Susan) Murnahan, of Ironton, and Cindy (Darrin) Steele, of Lady Lake, Florida; four grandchildren, Kyle Steele, Reid Murnahan, Jessye Murnahan and Matthew Murnahan, eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
The Murnahan family will receive friends and family Monday, from 11 a.m.–noon at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton. Funeral service will begin at noon and burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, 824 Lorain Street, Ironton.
