KITTS HILL — After complaints from the public about a horse being neglected in the Kitts Hill area, the Lawrence County Humane Society Officer Drew Artis have met with the owner who explained the situation.
“We met with the owner of the horse and were advised that the horse had gotten loose from him and went into a briar patch and some mud, causing its coat to have some issues,” said Sheriff Jeff Lawless. “The owner has corralled the horse and has cleaned its fur. We have found that this horse is being fed and cared for along with other animals on the property.”
The sheriff said the horse’s owner is in the process of transferring ownership of this horse.
“We find no reason to file a criminal report at this time,” Lawless said. “The humane officer will continue to monitor this situation.”
Because no criminal report has been filed, further details are available.
