Southern pulls away late from Lady Tigers

RACINE — You should have seen the one that got away.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers saw victory slip away as the Southern Lady Tornadoes pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 50-44 on Thursday.
Ironton held the lead most of the first half before Southern rallied in the second half.
Lola Hankins hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points and Emerson White had 4 more points as Ironton took a 10-7 first quarter lead.
Sydney Stout hit a 3-pointer for Southern.
The Lady Tornadoes came back to tie the score at 21-all as Nevesh Camp scored 10 points.
Peyton Deer drilled a pair of 3-pointers and Hankins hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Ironton took a 24-21 halftime lead.
Kiersten Rose and Stout each hit 3-pointers and Camp was 4-of-6 at the foul line as Southern rallied to take a 34-33 lead.
The Lady Fighting Tigers had just 9 points in the third quarter with Hankins netting 4, Lexi McCall scoring 3 and Deer had the other basket.
In the fourth quarter, Southern outscored (ronin 16-11 to pull away to the win.
Rose had 5 points as 5 different players scored.
McCall had 4 points, Jolee Hankins scored 3 while Deer and Lola Hankins each had a basket for the Lady Fighting Tigers.
Lola Hankins scored 15 points and Deer scored 10 to pace the Lady Fighting Tigers (3-5).
Stout scored 12 and Camp 10 for Southern (8-4).
Ironton hosts Chesapeake Saturday.
