Pointers turn back Hornets

COAL GROVE — The South Point Pointers and Coal Grove Hornets are like next door neighbors.
Yeah. Like the Hatfield and McCoys.
The two teams locked up in another Ohio Valley Conference battle on Monday with the Pointers getting a 56-46 win.
Ethan Hunt had 15 points and Brayden Hanshaw 13 to lead the Pointers (2-3, 2-1).
Owen Johnson scored a game-high 25 points for the Hornets (2-2, 1-2).
South Point took a 16-6 first quarter lead as Hunt hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 7 points while Austin Evans also had a triple.
Johnson scored 4 points in the second quarter as Coal Grove trailed 26-17 at the half.
Hunt had 4 points for the. Pointers.
South Point opened up a 44-30 lead at the end of the third quarter as Hanshaw got the hot hand and scored 9 points with Davon Lewis adding 5.
Johnson scored 7 of Coal Grove’s 13 points in the quarter.
The Pointers were 6-of-10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter with Landon Vance connecting on 4-of-6.
Johnson had 12 of Coal Grove’s 16 points in the quarter.
