A 12-year-old girl has been arrested for the threats that closed down the Dawson-Bryant schools on Wednesday.

The girl, who is a Dawson-Bryant Junior High School student was arrested after detectives from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office tracked the IP address of suspect which lead them to a residence on State Route 243.

On Tuesday, there were threats circulating on SnapChat that a teacher would be shot at a Dawson-Bryant school. A similar threat was made against Buckeye Local Schools in Jefferson County.

Because of the threat, Dawson-Bryant schools were closed on Wednesday.

In a press release, the sheriff’s office said the girl admitted to making threats towards her school but she said she did not make threats to any other school district.

She was taken to the Lawrence County Juvenile Center on charges of delinquency by terroristic threats and delinquency by inducing panic.

She will be arraigned in Lawrence County Juvenile Court at a later date.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to track down suspects for threats made to other schools in the county and with other agencies in the Tri-State that are working on similar cases that have happened

“We will do are very best to track down anyone who makes a threat toward our schools and arrest them” States Sheriff Jeff Lawless. “The safety of our children has always been a priority.

In Ashland, the police department has doubled patrols around the city’s schools after a series of threats were made as detectives follow up on leads. The Ashland Police Department has said that no credible threats have been found.
