The Ohio University Southern Student Nurses Association is calling on the community to make a difference by donating blood. Partnering with the American Red Cross, they will host a blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m. in Ohio University Southern’s Riffe Rotunda.
Currently, there are still 41 donation appointments available, and you can help fill them by registering in advance. All donors will receive an exclusive Red Cross shirt as a token of appreciation.
“Every donation counts, and we’re excited to see the community come together for this important cause,” said Associate Professor of Instruction Nicole Stumbo. “It’s vital to maintain a steady blood supply to meet the needs of patients who rely on these donations for surgeries, cancer treatments, and emergencies.”
In addition to receiving a special Red Cross shirt, donors who sign up in advance can skip the line.
Stumbo highlights the impact of past drives, noting that 180 people benefitted from donations during the last two events. “Your donation makes a real difference in our community,” she said.
Beyond organizing blood drives, the Student Nurses Association is dedicated to community service, contributing to initiatives such as Harvest for the Hungry, local outreach programs, and various civic events.
“The heart of nursing is service to the community,” said Stumbo. “Our involvement in these drives and local activities helps build strong connections with those we serve.”
