Joyce Smith

Joyce Ann Smith, 79, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at SOMC Hospice, Portsmouth.

She was born Jan. 14, 1945, to the late Dewey and Victoria (Spicer) Parker and also preceded in death by her husband, James David Smith, on Oct. 12, 2021, after 54 years of marriage.
Joyce graduated from Ironton High School and retired from Lawrence County Medical Center after 30-plus years of service as a financial officer.

She was an avid reader and had several loves in her life such as shopping, animals and The Ohio State Buckeyes, but nothing compared to love she had for her family and she enjoyed every minute she got to spend with them.

She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Herbert and John Parker; and a sister, Norma Jean Smittle.
Those left to celebrate her life are a son, Christ Smith, of Ironton; a daughter, Tammy (Brian) Schug, of Covington, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Keith Schug of Fairfield, and Joy Schug, of Independence, Kentucky; and a sister, Mary (Clarence) Harper, of Ironton.
There will be no services scheduled at this time and Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, is honored to be assisting the family with the arrangements.
