Joyce Beals

Nov. 18, 1940–June 17, 2024

Joyce Elizabeth Beals, 83, of Conroe, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2024.

Joyce was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Wareham, Massachusetts to her parents Wallace “Bub” and Grace Dill.

She graduated from Bourne High School in 1958, and on Nov. 15, 1959, married her husband of 58 years, the late Jerry Lee Beals of Ironton, whom she met while he was stationed at Otis Air Force Base in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.

Jerry and Joyce moved to Ironton in 1962 where they raised their family until 1978, when Jerry’s work transferred the family to Houston, Texas.

Joyce was outgoing, social, and artistic. She loved traveling, painting, crocheting, gardening, singing, and playing the piano, but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her Gigi, and adored her.

Joyce retired from C.E. Lummus Combustion Engineering, where she was a proofreader for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spring Forest in Spring, Texas.

Joyce is survived by her five children Kimberly (and Hugh) Hodge, of Columbia, South Carolina; Tamara Phillips, Debra (and Albert) Welch, Lisa (and Mike) Brownlee, and Timothy (and Polly) Beals, of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jarrod Barkwell, Logan Hodge, Brandon Phillips, Haleigh Tomlin, Casey Berry, Lacey Delay, Michael Brownlee and Jacob Beals; her great-grandchildren, Everett and Hudson Phillips, Mason Berry, Devin and Emma Joyce DeLay, Emmett, Wesley and Jackson Tomlin, Wyatt, Cam and Chloe Brownlee, and Lenora Beals.

She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Brace, of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts; and brothers and sister in-laws, James “Jim” and Judy Beals, Dora Ann and Kellan McClellan and Connie and Tom Brammer, of Ironton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be held noon Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton with her brother-in-law, Jim Beals officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service.
