Lady Hornets 4×200 relay, Montgomery reach finals

DAYTON — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets may only have qualified in two finals Thursday at the Division 3 state track tournament, but it’s the quality and not the quantity.

Coal Grove will have its 4×200 meter relay team in the finals with an excellent chance at a state title when the run Friday at 6:45 p.m. at Dayton University’s Welcome Stadium.

The Lady Hornets 4.200 relay team of Kylie Montgomery, Olivia Kingrey, Laura Hamm and Madison McDaniel qualified for the finals with the best overall time of 1:42.93

Montgomery was seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 58.56 seconds and qualified for the finals at 7:20 p.m.

McDaniel ran a 12.45 in the 100-meter dash preliminaries and Kingrey ran a 12.76 but both failed to make the finals.

Coal Grove’s 4×400 relay team of Hamm, Alyssa Thibodaux, Kingrey and Montgomery had a 4;07.27 clocking but failed to qualify for the finals.

The Division 2 meet will be Friday and Saturday.
