Georgianna Allen

Georgianna Lee (Thompson) Allen, 89, of Ironton, passed away April 12, 2024, at a local nursing facility.

The Ironton native was born Dec. 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Flora (Lewis) Thompson and Major Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy D. Allen, on Oct. 23, 1992.

Mrs. Allen attended Ironton High School and was a loving mother and homemaker for her nine children.

She enjoyed attending church at the New Jerusalem Christian Center in Ironton.

She was a very active member where she was a church mother, minister, deaconess and loved to Praise Dance.

Georgianna was a former employee for the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, Central Christian Church and the Lawrence County Children’s Home.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four children, Mark Allen, Georginna Allen, Helen Allen and Tyree Allen; and one brother, Harold Thompson.

She is survived by one son, Bill (Pamela) Allen, of Rush, Kentucky; four daughters, Linda Allen, of Chesterfield, Virginia, Flora (Ronnie) Henry Schelling, of Ashland, Kentucky, Mary Allen, of Columbus, and Sandra (Napoleon) Burris, of Ironton; daughter-in-law, Gloria Allen, of Ironton; a granddaughter she helped raise, Lajuanda Allen Johnson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the New Jerusalem Christian Center, 817 S. 8th Street, Ironton, with Bishop Napoleon Burris officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.
