Lady Fighting Tigers rally to beat Lincoln County

CANNONSBURG, Ky. — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers saved their best for last.
Trailing most of the game, Ironton scored 6 runs over the final 3 innings to beat the Lincoln County Lady Panthers 8-5 on Friday in the Tri-State Showcase.
The Lady Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Allison Ramey walked, Becca Pennington singled and both scored on a hit by Ryleigh Shull.
Ironton got a run back in the top of the second when Wallace drilled a one-out home run to center field.
But Lincoln County (11-2) got 2 more runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-1.
After 2 walks and a double play, Pennington doubled to score both runners.
The Lady Tigers cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth when Kenley Neal singled, ping-runner Breagan Thomas moved up on a passed ball, took third on Katelyn Moore’s ground out and scored on an error.
Ironton took the lead in the top of the fifth by scoring 3 times.
Emily Weber ignited the rally with a lead-off home run. Katelyn Williams and Gracie Brammer got back-to-back singles. An out later, Aubrey Ferguson and Neal followed with RBI singles.
Lincoln County got a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game as Allison Ramey hit a leadoff home run.
After a scoreless sixth inning, Ironton pushed across 3 runs in the top of the seventh.
Williams led off with a hit and Khalil Martin reached on a one-out error. Ferguson then doubled to drive home both runners and Neal followed with an RBI hit.
Shull and Pennington had singles in the bottom of the inning but Wallace got 3 pop outs to end the game.
Wallace went the distance to get the win as she gave up 8 hits, 5 earned runs with 8 strikeouts and 5 walks.
Ironton (7-4) had 12 hits with Neal going 3-4 with 2 RBI, Williams 2-3, Ferguson 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI, Brammer 2-4, Weber 1-3 with a home run and Wallace 1-4 with a home run.
For Lincoln County, Pennington was 3-4 with a double and RBI, Shull 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Ramey 1-3 with a home run and Kiersten Ross 1-3.
