Julia Ann (Lutz) Fugitt, 70, of Ironton, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky, after a six-month battle with cancer.
Julia was born April 17, 1953, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Dan and Margaret (Geswein) Lutz.
Julia was a 1971 graduate of St. Joseph High School, a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an active volunteer and contributor to the Catholic community of Ironton.
Julia was a loving wife and mother, she married Paul Fugitt, of Ironton, in 1983. Together they shared 40 wonderful years, two redheaded children, and an abundance of happiness. Julia spent much of her career as a floral designer at Weber’s Florist & Gifts. It was there her talent and hardworking nature thrived until she retired in 2022. Julia was the backbone of her family, eldest daughter, leading sister, beloved aunt. Her kindness knew no bounds and her example of faith was clear in everything she did.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Margaret Lutz and her son, Jacob Fugitt, who passed away on Dec. 13, 2022; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Marie Fugitt; and sister-in-law, Linda Fugitt Murnahan.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Fugitt; daughter, Mary (Taylor) Dean; granddaughter, Olivia Dean; brother, Joe (Kelli) Lutz; sister, Barb Lutz, all of Ironton; sister, Mary Ann (Marc) Thiebach, of San Diego, California; two sisters-in-law, Judi Fugitt, of Westerville, and Melody (Kenny) Abdon, of Raceland, Kentucky.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, 5th and Center Streets, Ironton, with Father Wayne Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The Fugitt and Lutz family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
