PROCTORVILLE — Brody Buchanan isn’t a one-man team.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t try to be.

Buchanan scored a career-high 31 points and also had 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Fairland Dragons rout of the Portsmouth West Senators 78-44 on Thursday.

Buchanan got plenty of help from Chase Allen who scored 17 points and had 3 assists, Keegan Smith had 6 rebounds and 3 assists and Will Davis had 5 assists and 3 steals.

Trevor Fike and Jeffrey Bishop scored 14 points each. Will Kegley had 5 assists and Fike 4

Fairland (5-2)  led just 16-13 after the first quarter as Buchanan drained a trey and scored 9 points.

Fike hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Bishop added 4 points for West (3-4).

The Dragons began to create distance in the second quarter by outscoring West 22-10 and open up a 38-23 halftime lead.

Allen had 5 points with Brycen Hunt and Buchanan getting 4 points each and Trevor Lochow hitting a 3-pointer for the Dragons.

Bishop and Fike had 4 points each in the quarter.

Fairland extended the lead to 58-39 in the third quarter as both Allen and Buchanan hit 3-pointers and scored 7 points each.

Bishop scored 6 points with Fike and Kegley scoring 4 points each.

Buchanan racked up 11 points in the fourth quarter as he knocked down a trifecta and a pair of free throws as Fairland outscored the Senators 20-5.

Fairland will host South Point on Friday, Jan. 5, in a key Ohio Valley Conference game.
