Smurf is a 5-year-old, black and white pit bull male. Staff at the shelter named him because of the blue toenails he had when he arrived. The longest-residing dog at the shelter, he has been neutered by a local rescue group, in hopes of getting him a home. Animal rescue coordinator Melissa Nicely says he has a calm personality and is “not hyper at all.” (The Ironton Tribune | Heath Harrison)
