Jacob Scharbrough

May 20, 1945–July 5, 2020

 

Jacob Scharbrough, 75, of Pedro, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020.

 

He was born May 20, 1945, in Stanford, Kentucky, to the late Henry Scharbrough and Sarah Elizabeth (Allen) Butler.

 

Jacob enjoyed going to the flea market and talking on the CB radio. He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly. He was of the Pentecostal faith and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by children, David (Donna) Scharbrough, of Portsmouth, Tish (David) Canter of Oak Hill, Denise (Randy) Shepherd, of Pedro, Wayne (Debbie) Scharbrough, of Piketon, Paul (Sherry) Scharbrough, of Chillicothe, and Crystal (Brian) French, of Pedro; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Maxine) Scharbrough; a sister, Christine Terry; and a sister-in-law, Rose Scharbrough.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (Dearth) Scharbrough; son, Gayle Scharbrough; grandsons, Brenden and Cory Scharbrough; siblings: William Henry Scharbrough, Martin David Scharbrough, Joseph Scharbrough, James Edward (Nancy) Scharbrough, Samuel (Bonnie) Scharbrough, Charles Ulysses Scharbrough, and Robert (Shirley) Scharbrough; and his beloved dog, Hollie Jo.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.

 

No public services will be held per his request.

Lawrence Freeman

Feb. 26, 1935–July 6, 2020

 

Long-time Ironton resident Lawrence Wilson “Larry” Freeman passed away at King’s Daughters Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky, on the morning of July 6, 2020, after a prolonged struggle with lung illnesses.

 

Larry was born in Ironton on Feb. 26, 1935, to Lawrence and Ruth (Wilson) Freeman. On Oct. 2, 1960, he married the love of his life, Linda Lou Kershey, with whom he had two sons.

 

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by sons, Scott Freeman (and wife, Kathy,) of Montgomery, and Kent Freeman (and wife, Adriana,) of New York, New York; grandson, Rob Freeman, of Columbus; grandsons, David and Will Freeman, of Montgomery; sister, Alice Bruneau, of Ironton; and brother, Dale Freeman (and wife, Karen,) of Winter Haven, Florida.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death, by sister Nancy Freeman.

 

Visitors may call on Friday from 6–8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ironton. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Woodland Cemetery.

 

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Karen Slone

Karen Louise Slone, 65, of Willow Wood, died Monday July 6, 2020.

 

Private family services will be held at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

Donald Klinger

Donald E. Klinger, 91, of Crown City, died on Monday, July 6, 2020, at Holzer Emergency Medical Center, Gallipolis.

 

He is survived by his wife, Susannia Klinger.

 

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Entombment will follow the service at Rome Cemetery Mausoleum, Proctorville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Raymond Bailey, 94, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Woodlands Retirement Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

 

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at South Point United Methodist Church with Pastor Jaime Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Stephanie Lynn Edwards, 48, of South Point, died Wednesday, March 10, 2020.

 

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Burlington 37 Cemetery with Rev. Gary Edwards officiating.

Barbara Yost

Barbara Sue Yost, 69, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, July 6, 2020 at home.

 

She is survived by her husband, Larry Yost.
