SOUTH POINT — The village of South Point is planning a food truck rally for Saturday, June 20.
Mayor Jeff Gaskin said he expects 10 trucks to set up at the event at the Veterans Park boat ramp on Ferry and Second streets.
“We’ve improved the grounds and have several food trucks confirmed and more to go,” he said.
He said there is no cost of admission for the event, which will run from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and parking will be available at First Baptist Church, at the corner of Solida Road and County Road 1, and South Point United Methodist Church, located at 202 Third St. Both are one block from the boat ramp.
Confirmed to set up are Saved by Grace BBQ, of Huntington, Truckin’ Cheesy and Twisted Cafe, of Barboursville, with plans for Hillbilly Hibachi, C-N-C Concessions (whose motto is “We’ll deep fry anything”) and several ice cream and drink vendors.
The event was originally planned for May, but was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gaskin said they will be encouraging social distancing and posting signs advising six feet of spacing.
“I hope this can be a venue where food trucks show up regularly,” Gaskin said. “It has a wonderful view of the river.”
