Council to host call-in meeting on Tuesday
SOUTH POINT — The village of South Point is hosting Happy Hour each day at 6 p.m. in order to raise morale during the coronavirus stay-at-home-order.
Mayor Jeff Gaskin issued a proclamation calling on residents to engage with each other using social distancing by waving and shouting words of encouragement.
Gaskin said he takes no credit for the idea and is simply expanding on what the city of Ironton announced last week.
Ironton Mayor Sam Cramblit has called on citizens to do the same each day at 6 p.m.
Gaskin also said the village council will host their April meeting through a limited call-in session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The public meeting, which was originally to have taken place April 7, was moved to mid-month, then switched to the call-in plan to minimize public gatherings.
Gaskin said the mayor, council, the village attorney and a few residents will take part in the call-in, which will be open to the media, in order to fulfill public meeting requirements.
The mayor said he expects it to be a short meeting, focused on only pressing business.
