As The Ironton Tribune was finalizing today’s paper, Gov. Mike DeWine announced that all K-12 Ohio schools would be closed due to concerns regarding the coronavirus.
The move for an extended spring break, which will last for three weeks, will begin at the close of Monday’s school day.
In addition, the governor announced a ban for all public gatherings of more than 100 people.
To date, there are only five confirmed cases in Ohio, but the state is tolerating no risk and taking all precautions to prevent a possible spread.
In addition, DeWine’s office has set up a website at https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/ to provide Ohioans with the latest updates on the situation, as well as frequently asked questions and contacts for health organizations.
We applaud DeWine’s leadership during this time. As someone who has held multiple elective offices over the past few decades, he has been well-versed in all aspects of government.
His competency and quick action on this situation has drawn him praise from across the political spectrum.
It is assuring to know that state leaders are taking the pandemic seriously and solid leadership is being provided.
